Prayer is simply connecting with God. He wants us to talk to Him like a person-to-person phone conversation. Jesus gave us many examples in the Bible about how to pray, what to pray and importantly when we pray, to pray with faith in the One we’re praying to!
We pray because we believe God hears us and wants to answer our prayers. More than that though, He wants to have a relationship with us and be the One we go to with our joys, worries, needs, pains etc.
There are several opportunities to pray together at Bethel. Once a month on Saturday morning we have Prayer First, a time for us to get together and pray for the people in our church, in our community and in our world. In our Small Groups, we try to always make sure there’s time and space for plenty of prayer too!
We have a prayer room leading off the main church giving space for people to pray for each other and to also have somewhere quiet for personal prayer and meditation.
At certain times in life, we or someone we know may be going through a difficult situation, have health problems or simply need others to pray for them. Through the prayer chain, a group of people in Bethel receive regular prayer requests by text message and pray for those various needs. It is always exciting to see how God works through these requests with many prayers answered!
